How to find hidden/blocked Google search results
Recently I was trying to look something up on google that I found a week or two before. However I couldn’t find it anymore, thats when I discovered that the search result was removed due to a copyright claim. After some investigating I found out how one can still view the removed results, or at least the domains of the removed entries.
How to know if results have been removed?
If you scroll down to the very bottom of the google search result page you should find something like this:
As you can see there are at least 7 domains that can contain multiple urls of search results that have been redacted due to a variety of reasons. In this example all of them got removed because of Complaints.
How can I find the removed results?
Now if you click on one of the “Complaint” links you get to another page.
You will be forwarded to lumendatabase.org, which is a “The Lumen database collects and analyzes legal complaints and requests for removal of online materials, helping Internet users to know their rights and understand the law. These data enable us to study the prevalence of legal threats and let Internet users see the source of content removals.”
The page will look like the image below and you can see in the “ALLEGEDLY INFRINGING URLS” which domains have been removed, an how many URLs of that specific domain have been removed.
